Objective: To investigate the effects of total flavonoids of flos chrysanthemi (TFFC) on endothelial function, renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) activity in spontaneously hypertensive rats. 

Methods: SHR were divided into 4 groups according to the different medication, namely blank control group, high-dose and low-dose group of TFFC and niuhuang jiangya pills group, all tid for 28d. The changes of blood pressure, plasma endothelin (ET), plasma renin activity (PRA), angiotensin II (Ang II) and aldosterone (ALD) in the four groups were observed and compared. 

Results: Before medication, the plasma levels of ET, PRA, Ang II, ALD in blank control group had significant difference with those in the normal control group (P<0.01), while those levels showed no significant difference with in other three medication groups (P>0.05); At the 28d post medication, the plasma levels of ET, PRA, Ang II, ALD were significantly decreased in three medication groups (P<0.01), while no difference was found in those groups (P>0.05). 

Conclusion: The TFFC can inhibit the increase of blood pressure by improving the endothelial function and regulating the RAAS.
